Tarascon Pharmacopoeia App Reviews

Disappointed in newest version

Im very disappointed in Tarascon. This newest version is subscription based which means your app is disabled every year until you pay again. Very greedy Tarascon! Secondly, I preferred the previous format where all of the information on a particular drug was in one long entry. The new format makes you click back and forth to see each of the different informational entries. This is very tedious.

Breached Contract

An app that ceases to function by design, and on purpose, (and by trickery no less) deserves a less than Zero rating. The Legal terminology is Breach of Contract. When I bought this app several years ago, I bought it with the understanding that it would continue to work whether or not it was renewed in order to obtain the updates . I did update it at least once. It was not perfect but it was useful -even without updates. Somehow, it was recently updated to the new format without the warning that it would cease to function --- Now, it cannot be accessed at all without payment of an update fee -(which I am disinclined to do because I find the new format less convenient.) Previous users who bought the app under the old rules are entitled to be allowed to return to the old app format as it previously functioned without the updates. If they want updates they can pay the update fee but Tarascon is not entitled to hack into their machines and disable a previously purchased app. Tarascon (or its new owners or management firms) must honor contractual agreements. Declaring Bankruptcy may absolve them of this obligation but selling the company or its management does not absolve. I and others who bought the app that Tarascon or its descendant entities has fraudulently disabled are entitled to a refund or to a restoration of their previously functioning Tarascon Pharmacopoeia App. Class Action????

Cheap tricks to get subscriptions

Making app free for a day then the app stops working unless you pay a $40 subscription?!?! Cheap tricks make this well-designed app useless and untrustworthy. Thanks for wasting time

Must renew to view

Stick to the pocket book as the app. Must be renewed at $40 to view once initial script has expired. The pocket books contents will always be ready for you even if a little outdated.

Down date - not UP date

If can not improve functionality leave well enough alone!!! Very clumsy to use this forced updated version. Not user friendly probably will never renew again. Retrieving information taking back and forth clicking - waist time!!!!!

Crapware

Subscription each year. Crap

Good but TOO EXPENSIVE

This app works as you would expect it to work, without bugs and glitches and with an easy interface and a little better detail than the physical Tarascon Pharmacopoea book. The big problem is the cost. Whereas the book is published annually and the pocket edition costs around $15 and can be used forever, this app costs more than $40 but for that fee, you only get one year of use. And after that year, the app is locked and you dont even have the privilege of using the older data. So, help me understand....There is no printing, no distribution, no shelf space, none of the overhead going into producing a physical book. Just the software. And yet it costs way more? Im thinking Tarascon will need to make pricing more reasonable or they will lose market to the competition.

Too expensive, update mandatory

App itself is good and it is markedly too expensive App=$40 per year Pocket book=$9.90 Problem also that the app will lock up on you when the year is up which is total balogney. I paid for it in 2014 and like the book should be able to keep all the data up to my expiration date. I do not care if I dont get the updates. So I buy one book it lasts me 2 or 3 yrs for 99% of what I do. Not renewing anymore

Cannot access once subscription ends

The app is nice while its functioning. However, unlike the book there is no convenient way to view related drugs or drug families, which I really used a lot with the paper version. In addition to this lack of functionality, you get saddled with a subscription fee. Yes you get updates, but once your sub is done, you get completely locked out. It doesnt just stop updating. I suppose theyre afraid someone will sue because their version of the app was out of date. On the other hand, the vast majority of what Im looking for doesnt change. Would not recommend. Will go back to buying the book.

MISLEADING AND FRAUDULENT !!! SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM APP STORE !!!

Picture purchasing this product in paperback and in 12 months the company breaks into your library and steals it. Thats tantamount to way this app works. The description is fraudulent..its not just a matter of renewing a yearly subscription to get an update as they state. LITERALLY, THEY JUST SHUT OFF YOUR APP THAT YOU PAID FOR AND ON YOUR DEVICE UNLESS YOU SIGN UP FOR THEIR AUTO-RENEWING YEARLY CONTRACT WITH A CREDIT CARD ON FILE. Deserves a zero rating but cant write a review with a zero. Not very happy. MD, PhD Clinical Pharmacologist

Too Expensive

Handy to have but TOO TOO EXPENSIVE.

Just buy the book

The original description did not mention the subscription part. The book is less than half of the price of this "app". You get to keep it!

MD

Cant find where to turn off automatic renewals. Frequent prompts for useless updates. Less complete drug information than previous versions. Will start to look for an alternative to this expiring classic.

LOCKS YOU OUT!!!

After paying the HIGH price for this app, I was locked out a year later unless I renewed. I couldn’t even access the old data I paid for. I guess they lost another customer until they change their policy!

Fantastic app, worth every penny

This app is very helpful for the internist.

I LOVE my Tarascan app!

The books were good (for years), but the subscription stays updated! The material is so much easier to find on my iPhone, and its way easier to read. I love my Pharmacopeia app!

Excellent reference

Outstanding guide to assist with patient care.

Great - for a Cadillac

This is my go-to for dosing indications and interactions. BUT IT IS TOO-expensive. So many more fancy apps are 3-5$. At least you could make renewals cheaper and leave the Original open. After paying THAT much.

Dont purchase

The program itself wasnt bad but they have gotten more draconian in their "renewal policies". Now instead of annoying you constantly with update suggestions (while you are trying to care for patients) the program simply locks you out. Suddenly no data, no book. Ive updated in the past, but never again. There are competing products out there (including their own book). Research and buy them.

Very useful app!

This app is easy to navigate & includes even the latest drugs. Also easier to read than book for those of us with over 40 eyes! I use it frequently & find it worth its value to me.
